Through a groundbreaking pilot project in 2022, in collaboration with AOLab and leveraging state-of-the-art BactiQuant technology, significant strides have been made in revolutionizing water quality monitoring.

“ As part of our water quality monitoring program in fish farms and focusing on water microbiology, we initiated a pilot project in 2022 with AOLab using BactiQuant technology. After this pilot experience, we moved to a second phase, where we evaluated and monitored all our operational processes, demonstrating that we were definitely on the right track.

We are already gaining a better understanding of the microbiological dynamics of water in our systems, which allows us to intervene early and contribute to the reduction of losses. We are currently in the phase of implementing different sampling protocols with BactiQuant, to optimize our water treatment systems, reduce costs through efficiency, and improve productivity. ”

The re-use of water in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) has significant environmental benefits as water consumption is reduced and the water is cleaned. In RAS, however, dissolved compounds and delicate particulate organic matter are complicated to remove, leading to a high risk of microparticles accumulating in the system, serving as a food source and a reservoir for bacterial colonization.
